The Facts about Skin Needling

"If you’re looking to improve the tone and texture of your skin, you can’t go past micro needling as an amazing preventative anti-ageing treatment."

Today we look at how to combine micro needling (collagen induction therapy) with hyaluronic acid for the ultimate in skin hydration.

WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?

Micro Needling  uses the skin’s own ability to heal itself. It applies tiny punctures to the dermis of the skin with a microscopic needle and this triggers the production of new collagen. I know most of us dislike the idea of needles - these are the type that get jabbed into your arm. A tiny cylinder of very fine needles enter the skin at such a past pace the wound created is very minimal. With some uncomfortable feelings throughout it is reasonably tolerated for the outcome achieved.

HOW DOES MICRO NEEDLING STIMULATE  YOUNGER LOOKING SKIN?

Micro needling is a non-invasive treatment that involves using a Micro Needling device to create microscopic holes in the skin’s surface, followed by applying a topical meso infusion product directly onto the surface of the skin. The micro channels created by microneedling then allow the skincare product to penetrate deeply into the skin, hydrating it from within.

This, combined with the trauma healing response in the skin that micro needling stimulates, allows your skin to produce more collagen and elastin whilst staying hydrated, giving your complexion a revitalised, refreshed look and slowing the visible signs of ageing.

SHOULD YOU USE A SERUM WHEN MICRONEEDLING?

Yes, absolutely! Micro needling with an infusion serum is sometimes referred to as ‘meso infusion’. I personally recommend only ever micro needling with some barrier slip to the skin, as the lubrication of the serum is going to help your micro needling device glide effortlessly over the skin, preventing drag.

WHAT SERUM SHOULD BE USED WITH MICRO NEEDLING?

I recommend at home device needling with serums such as Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin B and Peptides. Be aware as some of the other active ingredients are not meant to penetrate to the skins dermis as quickly causing more abrasion and wound healing that necessary and this affects the results. In Clinic treatments I use a sterile Hyaluronic Acid when performing micro needling and if your chosen needling service is MESO INFUSION I have access to a long list of amazing ingredients that can be tailor made to your skin concern

- Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is the ultimate treatment against extreme dryness, deep static wrinkles and loss of volume. Hyaluronic acid is a natural polysaccharide with incredible properties, even more enhanced by the specific form that we are using: high molecular weight for immediate and long-lasting results. Dehydration and loss of firmness are signs of skin ageing that lead to wrinkle formation and sagging of some face areas. Using hyaluronic acid helps to maintain a moisturized and firm skin.

- Anti Ageing

A synergy of active components acting at various levels to improve the skin condition and reduce the skin sagging. High concentration of 4 biomimetic peptides and 3 growth factors (Fibroblast GF, Epidermal GF, Thioredoxin GF) to energize the skin (stimulate the cellular growth and metabolism), protect from free radicals, reduce inflammation, control pigmentation and highly firm the skin

This helps to prevent the visible signs of ageing.

- Acne and Oily Skins

target treatment for impure skin, oily skin conditions and open pores. Acne is a disorder of the hair follicle and sebaceous gland. It happens when the pores sometimes get blocked with dead skin cells. Sebum which normally drains to the surface gets blocked and bacteria such as P. acnes begins to grow and the pore becomes inflamed. Inflammation is what causes a pimple to look red and swollen. The sebum (oil): lubricate and protect skin & hair.
ACN contains bioactive molecules which clearly inhibits 5-α-reductase and P. acnes growth contributing to a better acne control and antimicrobial effect. ACN has anti-inflammatory effect, soothing acne-prone skin, reducing skin redness and has a fast relief of skin irritation.

WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in your body. It’s a humectant, which means that it binds to and absorbs water molecules - wherever hyaluronic acid is found, moisture is also present!

As the hyaluronic acid molecules absorb water, the volume is created, similar to how a sponge soaks up water and becomes full. When you apply this effect to your skin, your skin becomes full and plump and evens out the fine lines and crevices.

Best areas to treat with microneedling and hyaluronic acid?

You can use Micro needling and Meso Therapy in a range of places that you’d like to restore vitality to, but some of the most common areas are:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Arms
  • Decolletage (bust/lower neckline)
  • Tops of the hands

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

The number of microneedling treatments you’ll need will depend on the skin conditions that you’re hoping to improve, your skin’s history and your lifestyle factors.

Some people will find that they need only one treatment to see significant results; other people may require more treatments to achieve the results that they’re seeking.

You can safely perform Micro needling every 4-6 weeks. This is because this is roughly how long it takes for your skin cells to turn over a full cycle, and thus when you’ll see the maximum benefit of a micro needling session take effect.

Once you’ve achieved the results that you’re after, continue micro needling every 4-6 weeks to maintain those results.
