De-Pigmentation with Excel V™ Cutera
De-Pigmentation Treatment at Skin Nerd
Ultraviolet solar radiation is responsible for the appearance of freckles and sunspots on the skin. Lasers devices selectively target the dark pigment in the skin, breaking it down. The body then re-absorbs and excretes this through natural processes.
Pigmentation disorders are often more challenging in skin of colour. Common pigmented skin conditions treated routinely at Skin Nerd include:
- Moles, Freckles & Sun Spots
- Hormonal Pigmentation (Malasma)
- Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH)
- Poikiloderma
At Skin Nerd we use state of the art, medical grade, world-renowned Laser & Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Platforms to treat sun-damaged skin.
We also use Medical Strength Skin Peels such as TCA peel to treat various skin pigmentations and De-pigmentation peel Cosmelan™.
Important Note: Not all Laser and IPL devices are the same. For the general public, it is essential to understand that only the dermatological grade and medical strength Laser and IPL platforms can effectively tackle pigmentary skin lesions with the least risk of burning, scarring and pain. Trust your skin to qualified medical professionals only.
What causes the brown pigment spots on my face?
There are two different brown pigments that you get on your face. The first one is sun damage- easier to treat. The second type is melasma which is hormonal, some women will experience this around pregnancy. It can form a butterfly mask, and some people get the spots over the upper lip, a circle patch in between your eyebrows or the middle of your forehead or you can get two patches in the lateral part of the forehead above the eyebrows or underneath your eyes. They also come in larger patches if it is melasma. If it is sun damage it is usually large freckles and sun spots. True freckles tend to fade as we grow older but sun spots get bigger and darker as we age and grow older.
How can I treat Brown Spots and Pigment?
A consultation is a must when it comes to developing a treatment plan for pigmentation. A combination of layered services may be involved to establish the results you wish to achieve.
We will help you make the decisions that are right for you and your lifestyle.
The number of Excel V™ depigmentation treatments required will depend on the patient and the skin condition they wish to treat as well as the severity of the issue. The majority of patients tend to have significant improvement following just one session.
