Freckles and Pigmentation
PIGMENTATION DISORDERS
Suffering from Pigmentation, Irregular colour, Sun-damage or Freckling you wish you didn't own?
Pigment lasers target brown, pigmented or darker patches on the skin and are used to treat :
- Lentigines and freckles
- Age warts, liver spots and seborrhoeic keratoses
- Birthmarks
- Melasma, chloasma and hormonal pigmentation
- Diffuse and irregular hyperpigmentation (brown patches on the skin)
- Pigmentation from sun exposure and damage
- Drug induced pigmentation
At Skin Nerd we use a combination of treatments including laser ND:YAG and Cutera Limelight for treatment of pigmentation and often associated redness.
For pigmented lesions, laser light is absorbed by melanin, the pigmented cells are denatured and darken, and rise to the surface. This usually exfoliates off in an average of 7-14 days.
As most pigmentation carries capillary network it is important to focus on both the melanin production and the blood store at the same time to achieve optimal results hence the need for a thorough consultation and skin plan before treatment to diagnosis the route cause.

*Patch test and consultation is required prior to treatment for some skins
IS LASER RIGHT FOR YOU?
There are multiple other treatment options to consider when it comes to effectively treating pigmented skins. Depending on the skin condition it might be recommended you avoid laser and consider de-pigmenting peels, compounding solutions or a multi-complex treatment which combines multiple services together to target all levels of pigment as they present.
Some other options for successful pigmentation treatments are;
- Skin Peels
- Lightening Solutions
- De-Pigmenting Skin Treatments such as Cosmelan De-Pigmenting Peel
- Skin Needling
At Skin Nerd we take the time to consider all options and develop a safe and effective skin treatment plan that ensures all options have been considered and the very best and individual treatment is created for you.
